U12 youth teams in East Leagues – by Keith Forster

Youth Goals galore

Our club Under 12 squads completed their East League programme with a flourish on Sunday 2nd December at Mary Erskine School Edinburgh.

For a change we had more than enough players on duty making it difficult to control pitch time for all concerned.

Top placed Carnegie Tornados were first on at 0920 to face bottom of the league Falkirk & Linlithgow and never really looked in trouble seldom giving their opponents a sight of our goal throughout the game.  Goals by Joshua Love (4) and singles by Zara Webb, Alexander Thomson and William Poole resulted in a comfortable 7 – 0 win.

After a twenty minute break it was the turn of second placed Watsonians Wildcats to show us what they had but after a cautious start the goal scoring machine of Tornados got going thanks to some impressive passing and team-work and goals from Sarah Milne (2), William Poole (2) and Alexander Thomson gave us a 5 – 1 win to round off a faultless league campaign recording 10 wins from 10 games and a total of 44 goals for and only 8 against, so very well done to all who have played for our team in this pre-Christmas league.

Next to show their skills were Carnegie Typhoons who were occupying second place in their seven team league.  Game one was against fourth placed Livi Lions who were no match against our fast paced multi-passing team with our three strikers running wild netting our first after just 90 seconds.  Goals by Ryan Dempsey(4), Fergus Bond(3) and Alexander Thomson(2) gave us a 9 – 1 winning result.  Game 2 against Grange Lynxs was a slightly different story thanks to two very proficient players in the opponent’s team but we did manage to get the first goal on the board after six minutes thanks to an opportunist goal from Alexander Thomson but Grange were not ready to lie down and pulled the goal back two minutes later.  A slight team reshuffle saw us dominate once again and two further goals courtesy of Fergus Bond sealed a deserved 3 – 1 win to preserve that second place finish.

A superb performance by both of our squads so here’s looking forward to more of the same in the post-Christmas league due to start at the end of January.  Our thanks to all players, and just as importantly, ALL PARENTS.
