With a small squad and some tired legs from the day before, the team held their own in an even contest. Strathclyde scored from open play in the second quarter with Carnegie pulling a goal back in the third quarter through Kerry Jackson.

The game remained even and finished 1-1 before going to penalties.
The pressure was on for the L1s, not only to score their penalty flicks, but for their GK to save the oppositions attempts at scoring.

The ladies opted to go first, and Lorna McLintock calmly stepped up to the spot and slotted the ball home
Strathclyde’s 1st attempt was cleanly saved by the Dunfermline keeper as was their second attempt.
Kerry initially scored hers, but both umpires were not certain it had been a cleanly taken flick so she was forced to retake it, narrowly missing the post.

Strathclyde’s 3rd flick unfortunately just trickled over the line, after Ruth, the Dunfermline GK unluckily stopped most of the shot for it to bobble under her inner thigh before she could turn and get her stick to it.
Claire then scored a second flick for the L1s.

Strathclyde’s next taker scored, but the umpires disallowed it due to it being incorrectly taken, she was allowed to retake it, however it was cleanly saved once more by Ruth.
Dunfermline failed to score their next 2 penalties also, but once again the Dunfermline keeper, kept her cool and saved the remaining shots taken by the Uni team

With Carnegie coming out on top scoring 2 penalties to Strathclydes 1 they progress to the next round of the cup.

MVP was Ruth Poole and Ellen Gordon

On Saturday 21st September Dunfermline ladies 1’s took on newly formed Heriots Trinity, a merger of two Edinburgh based clubs.
