Dunfermline grew into the game, settling down applying game play they have been working on in training, and matching Falkirks intensity. Some good linking play created chances around the D, but without reward.

Within in moments of the second half starting, Lorna McLintock scored an absolute worldy, which lifed the team’s confidence. Dunfermline pressed high, and pushed hard for an equaliser. Despite the pressure, Falkirk found space in the D late on and added two quick goals in the final quarter. The 4–1 scoreline didn’t reflect the determination and effort shown by the team throughout.

MVP: Claire Stirling

Ladies 2s

On Saturday 27th September Dunfermline Carnegie Hockey Club L2s played Edinburgh Uni 8s at the DLC. The 1st quarter started strongly for Carnegie, with several runs down the line towards the opposition’s goal. There were many attempts on goal but the Uni defences fought back.

In the second quarter Uni started strong with some good runs, putting pressure on Carnegie’s defence and this resulted in a goal for Uni 8s. Carnegie fought back and secured a short corner. Due to a foul they were awarded a second, then a third and thanks to Chloe Faulkner, Carnegie found the back of the net.

In the third quarter both teams fought hard for possession but Uni were to take this quarter securing a second goal.

In the final quarter Carnegie regrouped and changed the structure slightly which allowed some good runs down the right wing of the pitch. There was plenty of action within Uni’s D but unfortunately no further goals were to come.

The game finished with a 2-1 win to Uni 8s.

MVP this week goes to Heather Gray

Ladies 3s

Dunfermline Carnegie L3s kicked off their East District Division 5 campaign with an action-packed fixture against a sharp and energetic Eskvale 2XI side. Despite a spirited comeback, Carnegie narrowly fell short in a thrilling 5–4 contest.

Eskvale came out of the blocks quickly, dominating the early stages with aggressive attacking play. Their pressure paid off with two well-taken goals in the first two quarters, putting Carnegie on the back foot and forcing them to regroup going into the second half.

The third quarter saw a rejuvenated Dunfermline side take to the pitch with renewed intent. A clinical short corner conversion from Caz got Carnegie on the scoresheet, followed shortly by a superb piece of open play that saw striker Lily calmly slot home the equaliser, levelling the game at 2–2. However, Eskvale responded with two quick goals of their own, regaining control and taking a 4–2 lead into the final quarter.

Undeterred, Carnegie came out fighting in the fourth. Tyler made an immediate impact with a thunderous strike early in the quarter, bringing the score to 4–3 and putting the pressure back on the visitors. But Eskvale once again capitalised on a short corner opportunity to extend their lead to 5–3. Carnegie pushed hard in the closing minutes, and Lily grabbed her second goal of the game with another tidy finish to make it 5–4. Despite their late surge, Carnegie couldn’t quite find the equaliser, but the team can take plenty of positives from a game full of determination, sharp attacking play, and a never-giving-up attitude from keeper Louise with some super saves to keep them in it!

Final Score: Dunfermline Carnegie L3s 4 – 5 Eskvale 2XI

Carnegie Goal Scorers: Caz ,Tyler,Lily x2

MVPs Louise Murray, Tyler-James McMahon and Lily Stewart

Ladies 1s The Ladies 1s faced Falkirk and Linlithgow on Saturday 27th September away at Linlithgow Academy.
