Ladies 1s<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The Ladies 1s faced Perthshire on Saturday 4th October at home. Despite the weather, the team came out in good spirits and put pressure on Perthshire from the beginning. With some good linking play, the L1s soon scored their opening goal. Perthshire adopted a high press but Carnegie were able to maintain possession well and won a few short corners. Unfortunately these weren’t converted but shortly before the end of the second half the second goal was scored.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The second half was similar with Dunfermline attacking for the majority of the half whilst managing to defend a couple of strong strong breaks from Perthshire. A further few short corners were won by Carnegie with two being converted by Ciara Wilkie and Becca Aitkens.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The team put in more good linking play throughout the remaining quarter to seal the match 4-0 at the final whistle.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Ladies 2s<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This was the first meeting of the season for Dunfermline L2s against Boroughmuir\u2019s 2s and after success against this team during preseason, Carnegie were keen to bag another win. Boroughmuir attacked strongly during the first quarter, putting pressure on forcing the L2s defence to work hard. Their efforts caused them to score late on in the first quarter, but the goal was disallowed due to dangerous play.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In the second quarter Boroughmuir secured their first goal in open play, despite goalie Sarah Deighan\u2019s efforts in a two on one situation. Carnegie worked hard to come back from this and began to attack more strongly in the third quarter, with lots of runs from the midfield leading to attempts on goal. Finally the goal came for Carnegie after some excellent play down the wing by Ailsa Habrovitsky giving Laura Donaldson the opportunity to score a brilliant goal for Carnegie; well deserved for all her efforts creating chances for the team.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

At several points during the last quarter it seemed that Carnegie could win a goal back and take the win. However, this was not meant to be, in the last minute of the match a mistake during a penalty corner resulted in a penalty flick being awarded to Boroughmuir, which they scored to secure them the win. It was unfortunate that Boroughmuir took the win within the closing seconds of the game, as Carnegie showed a lot of promising attacking and defensive play throughout the match.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The game ended 2-1 to Boroughmuir.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

MVP was awarded to Ellie Ralph for her excellent work in defence and keeping strong possession of the ball.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Ladies 3s<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

A spirited performance from Dunfermline Carnegie L3s saw them narrowly beaten 2\u20131 away to Stirling Wanderers 3XI at Forthbank.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

After a tight first half, Stirling took the lead before Fi McPhie equalised early in the fourth quarter with a well-taken penalty corner.
Despite strong attacking play and sustained pressure, Stirling managed to grab a late winner.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Tyler was named MVP for excellent attacking runs down the right and tireless work to keep the ball in play throughout the match.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

A tough result, but plenty of positives to build on for the next game!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
