Carnegie won a short corner, but came away empty handed with Mercedes Blacks’s goal disallowed. GHK were able to score a second open play goal in the third quarter, making the score line 2-0.

The final quarter brought some extreme weather in the form of hailstones! Berwick took advantage of the possession early on in the game and managed to secure a couple of goals.

At the end of the first half, Carnegie regrouped and started the second half much stronger. Their efforts were rewarded with a goal from a superb strike from Laura Donaldson. With Carnegie continuing to work hard, playing some nice triangles, they managed to earn further goal scoring opportunities through short corners.

An excellent goal from Chloe Faulkner added to the scoreline and lifted Carnegie’s spirits. Despite the team’s efforts, Carnegie were unable to catch up to Berwick’s early lead.

The final score was 4-2 to Berwick, with Jenny Callaghan being awarded MVP.

Ladies 3s

Carnegie L3s opened their second game of the season, after a long break, with some strong attacking play down the right wing. This led to successive short corners which were well defended by Falkirk. Fairly even play between the two sides saw Falkirk break through but unable to find their way to the goal. At times Carnegie were in close quarters with each other which hindered their attacking options. However, more open passing and strong play in the opposition’s half allowed Carnegie to come away with three goals scored in quick succession; Aimee McKenzie, Freya Elliott and captain Carolyn Jameston-Russell. The first half finished with Carnegie feeling confident for the second half but mindful that Falkirk could make a come-back.

The second half started with continued possession for Carnegie and the midfield working hard to maintain the pressure on Falkirk and push the ball forward to the attackers. Again, successive short corners were awarded to Carnegie and these were well defended. Continued attacking play saw a two further goals from Aimee McKenzie and then Samantha Laird. Falkirk made a few breaks into the Carnegie D and were rewarded with a short corner which was swiftly dealt with by Carnegie’s defence.

The final goal of the game was scored by Kate Wallace; a top of the D strike which found the back of the goal sealing the win for Carnegie with a final score of 6-0.

MVP Aimee McKenzie

Ladies 1s Dunfermline Carnegie L1s faced GHK L3s at home on a cold and blustery Saturday.
