The Edinburgh side started strongly, enjoying most of the possession and creating the early chances. However, once Carnegie settled into the game they quickly began to demonstrate their attacking flair. Striker Ciara Wilkie opened the scoring with an excellent solo run, weaving through multiple defenders before calmly slotting the ball home to give the hosts an early lead.

Carnegie doubled their advantage in the second quarter with a well-worked penalty corner. Wilkie was perfectly placed at the back post to deflect the ball into the net, claiming her second goal of the afternoon. The home side defended well for the remainder of the half, heading into the break with a solid 2–0 lead.

Carnegie caught Inverleith off guard at the start of the second half when the visitors were not fully set for the restart. Wilkie drove towards goal largely unchallenged, and a clumsy tackle inside the circle earned Carnegie a penalty corner. Youngster Emma Mathie stepped up and produced a powerful drag flick, sending the ball high into the net and leaving the Inverleith defence rooted to the spot. Wilkie soon completed her hat-trick to extend Carnegie’s lead to 4–0, though Inverleith managed to pull one back to make it 4–1 heading into the final stages.

In the final quarter, Wilkie added a fourth to her tally for the day. Carnegie eased off the intensity slightly, allowing Inverleith to build momentum and convert two penalty corners in quick succession. Despite the late pressure, Carnegie defended resolutely to secure a 5–3 victory at full time.

MVP was Ciara Wilkie, although the entire team can be proud of a strong performance.

The result leaves Carnegie in a strong position in the league standings, having taken points from two sides ranked above them in the top-six split. Carnegie continue their league campaign with their final home match of the season on Saturday 21 March, when they face Glasgow University.

Ladies 2s

On Saturday 14th March, Dunfermline Carnegie Ladies 2s produced a determined performance against Eskvale Ladies 1s, showing plenty of positives despite a 3–0 defeat.

Dunfermline began the game brightly, moving the ball well through midfield and applying early pressure on the Eskvale defence. Good passing and strong positioning allowed the home side to control large spells of possession in the opening stages, forcing Eskvale to work hard to contain the attacks.

The breakthrough came for Eskvale in the third quarter following a quick attacking move. Dunfermline responded well and continued to push forward, creating a number of promising chances. Several short corners gave the team opportunities to equalise, with strong efforts from Sophie and Libby keeping the Eskvale defence under pressure.

Defensively, Dunfermline remained organised and committed throughout the match, with excellent tackles and interceptions across the back line. Goalkeeper Sarah also produced a series of confident saves to keep her side firmly in the contest.

Eskvale added two further goals across the third and fourth quarters to secure the victory, but the scoreline did not fully reflect Dunfermline’s effort and competitiveness throughout the match.

There were many positives for Dunfermline Carnegie Ladies 2s to take from the performance, with the team showing great teamwork, determination and work rate against a strong Eskvale side. They will look to build on this display as they head into their penultimate game of the season next weekend.

MVP- Katie Peoples

Ladies 3s

Carnegie Ladies 3s delivered a strong and determined performance in a closely contested match against Livingston & West Lothian, coming away with a well-earned victory.

The game began at a high tempo, with Carnegie applying early pressure. Their attacking intent paid off in the first quarter when Kate won an important short corner, giving Carnegie an early opportunity to test the opposition defence. Shortly afterwards, Aimee opened the scoring for Carnegie with a well-taken goal, putting the home side ahead and setting the tone for the rest of the match. The teams battled hard through the middle stages, with both defences working tirelessly to limit clear chances.

Early in the third quarter, Livingston & West Lothian managed to draw level, converting a short corner to bring the score back to 1–1 and shift the momentum briefly in their favour. Carnegie responded quickly, and not long after the equaliser, Aimee struck again, scoring her second goal of the match to restore Carnegie’s lead. Her clinical finishing proved to be the difference in a tightly fought encounter.

The fourth quarter saw end-to-end play as Livingston & West Lothian pushed hard for another equaliser, but Carnegie’s defence held firm. Despite the intensity and pressure in the closing stages, neither side managed to add to the scoreline.

With two goals and an outstanding all-round performance, Aimee was deservedly named MVP

Final score- Carnegie Ladies 3s 2 – 1 Livingston & West Lothian.

Ladies 1s On Saturday 14 March, Dunfermline Carnegie Ladies 1s continued their league campaign with a home fixture against Inverleith.
