Carnegie Ladies 1s retain the top spot

Carnegie Ladies 1s played George Heriots 2s on a sunny Saturday at Goldenacre.

Carnegie started the game well and had most of the possession when centre forward Niamh Burns scored the first goal from a rebound; after attacking play in the midfield by Carnegie, Niamh soon scored her second with a great straight shot.  Ruth Poole then scored a cracker of a goal after maintaining possession under pressure in the circle to make it 3-0 at half time.

The second half started with more even possession as Heriots fought back but Carnegie regained their shape with Heather Gray scoring a good goal.  Niamh secured a hat-trick with another fantastic goal after some nice passing play with Heather. The final goal was scored by Ruth, linking up with Gill Oswald from a penalty corner, to slot the ball home in the bottom corner to make it 6-0.

Lorna McLintock was chosen as MVP for an excellent game in centre midfield.

Well done ladies!
