On Saturday 27th October, Dunfermline Ladies 2s took on ESM at Woodmill.
The game started well for Carnegie as the had lots of good balls making their way into the final 25 but were unable to convert any of their chances.
There was good passing up the left for Carnegie getting the ball into the D but it was ESM who took the lead following a short corner which was cleared initially but converted at the second attempt.
It was fairly even play in the second half and Carnegie pressured the ESM defence, winning their 3rd short corner of the game, which was cleared by ESM.
The game ended Carnegie 0 – ESM 1.
MVP was Lisa Morrison
On Saturday 3rd November Dunfermline Carnegie Ladies 2s played Watsonians at Mary Erskine playing fields.
Watsonians started out strong and saw them attacking right from the start which resulted in 3 shorts corner in the first 10 minutes, however Carnegie defended well and there was no outcome for Watsonians. Play continued to be quick and saw Watsonians picking up and playing some good interlinking passes, our defenders again battled hard and goalie Liz Wilson did well, however another short was awarded which was defended well initially but rebounded and saw Watsonians take a goal.
Dunfermline started back strong from the pass back with some good forward play and saw a shot on target, but unfortunately no goal scored. Carnegie continued to attack well but play switched to Watsonians which resulted in a quick attack from them and saw CArnegie finishing the first half 2-0 down.
Dunfermline pressured from start of the second half which resulted in Sam Laird scoring a lovely goal from open play and they continued to attack well.
Dunfermline were awarded a short corner which saw Anne Blyth take a cracking shot to draw level.
Quick play continued with Dunfermline attacking well and once again saw us in the D Sarah Mac almost scored but a good save from keeper denied this however the ball then deflected off of a defender to Lauren Girdwood who scored our 3rd goal drawing us level.
Dunfermline battled hard until the end with the game ending 3-3 😊. Ellen Gordon was voted MVP.
On Sunday 4th Novemeber, the ladies 2s had another game to play, this time against Edinburgh uni 9s. It was a fairly even game until Dunfermline Carnegie went 1 up from a short corner scored by Anne Blyth. After a few more chances, Ruth Poole had a great cross to Annabelle DI Salvo who tapped it into the back of the goal, putting them 2-0 up. Dunfermline then scored from another short corner from Anne Blyth. They through hard work and open play, Ruth Poole gave us the final goal of that half on a one on one with the keeper.
Starting the second half very positively working well to keep possession through passes and very close misses in the penalty circle. Even with many short corners Carnegie were unable to score. While Dunfermline were not scoring Edinburgh uni scored 3 goals fighting their way back into the game. They were awarded corner after corner but failed to equalise after several on the line saves by Ruth Poole .
The final score was 4-3. Ruth Poole was voted MVP.
