Carnegie 2’s (Production Bureau) travelled to Peffermill to play an away game against Edinburgh University’s 8s.
The first quarter started off disappointingly as Edinburgh University managed to score a goal against us. However we didn’t let that get into our heads.
In the second quarter, we started to play more in tune with one another which allowed us more attacking opportunities. In turn this enable Lauren Girdwood to score a goal bringing the score to 1-1.
By the third quarter, both teams started to get agitated at one another. This lead to a scrappy quarter in which no goals were scored for either team.
The fourth quarter was well played on our end. Despite the lack of substitutions and tiredness growing on us, we managed to pull through as Jennifer Callaghan scored another goal during a short corner. This brought the score to 2-1 to us. Unfortunately for us, Edinburgh University brought the score to 2-2 and in the very last seconds scored another goal from a defending short corner. This resulted in the final score being 3-2 to Edinburgh University’s 8s.
Overall, it was good performance and we played well as a team, despite our loss. MVP goes to Gabbi Wood for her determination and hard work throughout the game.
