School Hockey

A limited amount of free hockey coaching is available for both primary and secondary schools upon request to Dunfermline Carnegie Hockey Club. Qualified coaching visits can be offered either during the school day or for after-school groups, ideally each session would last approximately one hour.

Hockey coaching for Primary schools is initially made available to support the Dunfermline and West Fife Sports Council Annual Hockey Festivals and is usually offered in 5 to 8 week blocks just prior to schools festivals which are scheduled for November (P7 Indoor), April (P6 Indoor) and May (P7 outdoor).

The aim is to encourage as many schools as possible to offer their pupils the opportunity to sample this technically demanding team sport and to ultimately represent their school at organized events against similarly experienced players.

Coaching/support will also be considered for schools wishing to form after-school clubs or schools wishing to include hockey as part of their health week preparations, school sports days or transition events.

Lack of hockey specific equipment at any school should not deter a school from applying as equipment and coaching aids will be provided by the coach concerned but the school will be required to provide, at their own expense, a suitable area for playing the sport either on the school premises or at an external local facility.
