Ladies 1s League and Cup Double Header Weekend

On Saturday 5th October, the ladies 1s faced Western Wildcats for their final league game at the Woodmill pitch. Dunfermline defended well against a strong Wildcats side, and went into half time with a 0-0 draw.
The Wildcats scored from a break late in the 3rd quarter, but Dunfermline worked well to equalise through Kerry Jackson in the final 10 minutes.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw.

MVP was Chloe Clark

Sunday saw the final ladies game to be played on the Woodmill pitch before moving to the clubs new home at the new Dunfermline Learning Centre, playing Stirling Wanderers in a cup game.

In the first quarter of the game, the two teams fought hard in both defence and attack. Despite Dunfermline’s efforts, they were unable to score a goal during this section. However, our defence was solid and we managed to keep them from scoring as well.

DUnfermline made a strong start to the 2nd quarter! Right at the beginning, Mairi McLintock scored an excellent goal. However, unluckily Stirling struck back and managed quickly to score against us, levelling the scores. Despite this, Dunfermline kept their heads up and fought hard to keep the score at 1-1 until the third quarter.

In the third quarter, Stirling received a penalty stroke after a stick tackle occurred on the line. Unfortunately, they scored bringing it up to 1-2.

After two attacking short corners and lots of hard work from the whole team, Kerry Jackson managed to even out the score in the fourth quarter with an amazing reverse hit!

With the full time score at 2-2, it went to penalty flicks to determine the winner.

We underwent two cycles of 5 penalty flicks, taken by Lorna McLintock, Kerry Jackson, Mercedes Black, Lisa Morrison, and Claire Stirling, with each team scoring, goalkeepers making saves and near misses

This brought it to sudden death.

Stirling were first up, and the Dunfermline keeper made a fine save, putting the pressure on the Stirling keeper to follow suit, Dunfermline’s first sudden death stroke was taken by the MVP, Mercedes Black, who did an incredible flick; winning us the game!
