Ladies 1s
Carnegie Ladies 1s played Perthshire in the first game of the season this Saturday winning with an incredible score of 8-2.
The Carnegie side started strongly with a hat trick of goals from Ciara Wilkie within the first 10 minutes of the game. Two more goals followed both from short corners, one from Libby Pearson and the other by Emma Mathie, making the score at the end of first half 5-0 to Carnegie.
Perthshire came back quickly with a goal in the first couple minutes of the second half, but Ciara Wilkie then scored her fourth goal with an amazing reverse strike into the net. The Perthshire side scored their second goal from a penalty corner, leaving the score going into the fourth quarter as 6-2.
Carnegie continued playing nice hockey and were rewarded with two more goals in the last quarter from rebounds at short corners. One was a shot from Mercedes Black and the other a quick ball into the roof of the net from Claire Stirling.
The MVP for this game was Ciara Wilkie, who was very deserving of it with her amazing goals and strong commitment to the game.
Ladies 3s
Dunfermline Carnegie ladies 3s took on Falkirk and Linlithgow at Linlithgow Academy on Saturday 26th September.
Both teams started well and had their chances, however Carnegie went ahead in the 2nd quarter through a lovely taken penalty stroke by Gill Oswald. Falkirk & Linlithgow came back at the Fifers and equalised late on in the 2nd quarter. Both teams played some good hockey and had chances to score more goals however with some great defending from both teams it remained 1-1 at half time.
The 3rd quarter started off well, again with chances for both teams, however it was the Carnegie team that took the lead through a short corner strike by Gill Oswald. Falkirk & Linlithgow came back and equalised from an open play goal, and after some great saves late in the 4th quarter from the Carnegie goalkeeper Louise Murray the end result was a 2-2 draw.
