Ladies 1s
Carnegie Ladies first team played Heriots Trinity on Saturday 24th October. Carnegie started strongly scoring with an open play goal in the first quarter. This was from an aerial thrown into the corner by Emma Mathie, which was then run along the baseline before being passed to Ellen Gordon who slotted it into the goal.
Carnegie held the 1-0 lead throughout the rest of the first half with Heriots not getting many chances for a shot on goal.
In the third quarter another open play goal was scored, this time by Ciara Wilkie. Ciara ran with the ball skilling past the Heriots’ defense before dragging it past the keeper and into the goal. Carnegie kept strong for the rest of the game despite the harsh rain and wind that began beating down on them.
The game ended as a 2-0 win, an amazing score against a team who played in the league above last season.
MVP for this game was Emma Mathie for her relentless work in defense and her aerials that shocked and confused the opposition.
