Ladies 1s – Indoor
On Sunday 1 February, Dunfermline Carnegie Ladies 1s looked to maintain their winning momentum on the final day of the 2025/26 indoor season — and they delivered with two hard-fought victories.
Their first test came against a strong Uddingston side, eager for revenge after Carnegie claimed the points in their previous meeting. Uddingston struck early, taking a 1–0 lead with a swift field goal that caught the Carnegie defence off guard. Carnegie responded immediately, showcasing their quality from short corners as a perfectly worked routine found Ellen Gordon on the near post for a clinical deflection. Gordon doubled her tally later in the game, putting Carnegie 2–1 ahead.
Goalkeeper Ruth Poole played a crucial role, producing a huge penalty stroke save to keep Carnegie in control. Despite late pressure from Uddingston, Carnegie’s work rate, desire and defensive resilience proved decisive as they secured a well-earned 2–1 victory.
MVP: Ciara Wilkie, for her all-court presence and relentless pressure on the opposition.
Carnegie carried their momentum into their second match against Stirling Wanderers.
Captain Claire Stirling opened the scoring early, converting a penalty corner before Stirling responded almost immediately to level the game. The lead was soon restored when youngster Susie Bond reacted quickest to slot home the rebound from another penalty corner. Ciara Wilkie capped off an impressive day by finishing a well-worked open-play move to make it 3–1.
Stirling created numerous chances, but an outstanding goalkeeping display from Ruth Poole — including a series of crucial saves — ensured Carnegie saw out the win.
MVPs: Lorna McLintock and Ruth Poole.
Two strong performances rounded off an excellent indoor campaign for Dunfermline Carnegie Ladies 1s.
